On this week’s edition of the Atlanta Small Business Profile, our host and small business expert Ted Jenkin sits down with Brandon Ippolito, the second-generation owner of Ippolito’s Neighborhood Italian restaurants.
In 1987, Brandon’s father moved his family and his business to Atlanta from Connecticut, just as a lot of other Atlanta transplants did at that time. They opened their first Atlanta-based Ippolito’s restaurant in the small suburb of Roswell, serving homemade Italian food to the masses. Next year, Brandon and his family will be celebrating their 30 year anniversary.
While Brandon’s parents never pressured him to take over the family business, Brandon decided to explore that path on his own, to see if it was the right fit. After working his way up through the kitchen, Brandon discovered his passion for the business. He knew this was his calling.
Lately, Brandon has been opening up concept restaurants all over Atlanta called Ipp’s Pastarias as potential answers to Ippolito’s next evolutionary phase. Brandon recognized that in order to sustain long-term growth, Ippolito’s would have to tweak their business model and attract new customers. Its the same homemade favorites with new twists.
“There is great pride in cooking what your mother taught you and making sure tradition is not lost.” – George Ippolito
