The economy today is truly a global one. Studies have shown that consumer markets outside the United States will grow far faster than consumer markets within our borders. In fact, according to the 2018 Georgia Global Trade Summary, 2018 delivered the highest value of Georgia exports on record, reflecting the importance of trade to the state’s competitiveness. Exports exceeded $40.6 billion, a 9 percent increase over 2017, and Georgia reclaimed its rank as the 11th largest exporting state in the nation.
Savvy small businesses are eager to learn much more about potential exporting opportunities so they can capitalize on this growing trend. Today, we are joined by guest host Mark Collier, business consultant for the UGA Small Business Development Center, and his colleague Mario Gonzales. Mario is with the International Trade office at the UGA SBDC. In this segment, Mario shares his wealth of knowledge on exporting and specifically, how our International trade office helps Georgia businesses win in the exporting arena.
The pair first discuss how foreign bodies have achieved various levels of upward mobility utilizing trade and why that makes them prime consumer markets for American made products.
