Inmates to Entrepreneurs: Creating Second Chances and Breaking Barriers – Brian Hamilton and AJ Ware

According to the Wall Street Journal and the Sentencing Project, 1 in 3 American adults has some sort of criminal record. Entrepreneurship allows individuals to start their own business and rise above the systemic discrimination they face in the job market after their release. No one knows this better than our next guests, Brian Hamilton, founder of Inmates to Entrepreneurs and AJ Ware, Co-Chairman of its Board of Directors. Brian and AJ are here today to discuss their mission to assist people with criminal backgrounds in starting their own business by providing the necessary tools and mentorship.

Today, Brian and AJ start off by discussing their entrepreneurial journies in tech and marketing respectively, and how they transitioned into forming Inmates to entrepreneurs. After two decades of success in financial software development, Brian decided to give back to the community through his foundation, the Brian Hamilton Foundation. He then founded Inmates to Entrepreneurs, a resource and mentorship group designed to reduce the rate of recidivism in the United States by providing a path to financial stability and success through workshops, programs, and courses.
