Scaling Up: How to Take Your Business from Startup to Empire – Verne Harnish, Best-Selling Author and CEO

Every entrepreneur dreams of transitioning their business from startup to empire. But scaling a company isn’t an easy thing to do, and the necessary changes have the potential to derail your previously successful business. There are, however, plenty of techniques to scale up your business in a savvy and efficient way that will establish success for years to come. Here to discuss some of those techniques with serial entrepreneur, Verne Harnish, Founder and CEO of Gazelles and best-selling author of Scaling Up: How a Few Companies Make It…and Why the Rest Don’t.

Verne founded the Young Entrepreneurs Organization which is called EO nowadays and he launched its first executive program at MIT nearly 30 years ago. He went on to found Scaling Up, a Gazelles Company, and today, they have 175 partners on six continents, working with thousands of companies.

Scaling UpThe Scaling Up book was originally developed as a curriculum for the aforementioned MIT program. Verne then noticed that there were incubators on every corner, and MBAs that focused on large companies, but no resources available for the in-between business. That curriculum over time became the book Mastering the Rockefeller Habits. The updated 2nd edition became the best-selling book Scaling Up. The book is divided up into 4 areas:

  • People make the organization
  • Follow a simple strategy
  • Execute efficiently
  • Stash extra cash
