The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that the 10th annual National Veterans Small Business Week (NVSBW) will be held from October 30 to November 3, 2023. In honor of NVSBW, the SBA will host various in-person and virtual events to connect with two million Veteran-owned small businesses in the United States.
Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman stated in a press release, “This year marks our 10th celebration of National Veterans Small Business Week, but America’s veteran entrepreneurs have positively impacted our communities and the nation’s economy for decades. The Biden-Harris Administration prioritizes veterans’ support, and this week provides a crucial opportunity for the SBA to connect them with the resources necessary to start and grow their successful businesses.”
Throughout the week, the SBA, its resource partners, and local organizations will address the opportunities and challenges in entrepreneurship for veteran and military spouse small business owners. These include transition assistance, entrepreneurial training, government contracting, disaster assistance, and access to capital. Find more events at sba.gov/nvsbw.
The SBA has a history of supporting veterans and their families. Recently, the administration implemented efforts to boost the veteran small business community.
In January, the SBA launched the Veteran Small Business Certification program, assisting veterans in certifying their businesses to compete in the federal marketplace. In June, the SBA revised its loan program to bolster and broaden access to capital for small businesses, with a particular focus on veteran-owned businesses. Furthermore, the SBA recently launched the Military Spouse Pathway to Business program to aid military spouses in their entrepreneurial ventures.
