During the Zoomtopia 2023 event, Zoom announced the debut of Zoom Docs in response to the challenges the modern hybrid workforce faces. This workplace promises to revolutionize team communication and document creation by utilizing artificial intelligence within the familiar Zoom experience.
Along with Mail and Calendar offerings launched during last year’s event, Zoom Docs is a step closer to being a full office suite substitute to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, which have begun to include AI-powered tools, dubbed Duet AI and Copilot.
There is a continuous need for tools that streamline processes and increase output as many small businesses adjust to the evolving nature of the workplace. Zoom’s Chief Product Officer, Smita Hashim, emphasized the shortcomings of the available collaboration platforms, stating, “Hybrid work is challenging enough, and the current status quo for document creation and collaboration isn’t cutting it anymore.”Â
What does this mean for small businesses?
Zoom is assisting its clients by bringing the definition of a “doc” into 2023. This includes introducing robust document writing and collaboration features, cutting-edge collaboration tools, and a next-generation workspace that is AI-driven from the ground up. Because of its modularity, businesses may manage workflows, construct wikis, and produce documents on the same platform.Â
Advantages:
AI-Powered Productivity:Â Throughout Zoom Meetings and Team Chat, the AI Companion helps with content editing, brainstorming, summarizing, and information retrieval.
Unified Experience:Â Businesses can have all they require in one location with Zoom Docs’ seamless integration into the Zoom environment and compatibility with third-party apps.
User-Centric Design:Â The intuitive interface reduces learning curves, facilitating work delegation, speedy insight acquisition, and team goal alignment.
Principal Analyst at ZK Research, Zeus Kerravala, highlights the change in collaboration technologies, saying, “Collaboration is shifting from discrete products to a single, cohesive platform that unites various communication channels.”
